Is 'Fractional Domaining' In Your Vocabulary Yet?

If the term "Fractional Domaining" is not in your vocabulary yet, consider adding it now, as we are all going to be hearing about it a lot more in the weeks, months, and years ahead! I have been using "Fractional Domaining" on my blog since November as a general term to define and describe the practice of buying, selling, owning, developing, and/or monetizing fractional domains... and I am now starting to see the term used elsewhere.

Steve Morales of SimplyGeo.com used the term in a blog posting yesterday in which he spoke of "Big Announcements To Come". "Fractional domaining is something that has started to evolve and alot of major media groups are willing to partner with the right name," Steve wrote. Might the "big announcements" he mentioned involve fractional domaining in the geodomain industry? That's my guess, but if I am wrong, I do not think it will be long before we hear more about "GeoFractional Domaining" -- or should I say, "Fractional GeoDomaining" ? (BTW, I have not met Steve yet, but I have been superbly impressed by his efforts to support the GeoDomaining industry through his and Skip Hoagland's development of the SimplyGeo network... Steve's blog is a "must-read" for domainers.)

I am going to continue to be on the lookout for references made to "fractional domaining", "fractional domainers", and other terms relevant to the fractional domaining industry. If you notice any mentions, please comment and share the URL(s). Thanks!

Milestone Fusu Domain Sale Brings Return To KPY.com Fractional Domain Investors

Fractional domain investors in the domain KPY.com earned returns of about 55% to 80% on their investments when the premium three-letter name became Fusu.com's first fractionally-owned domain to be sold after having been listed and fractionally purchased via its Fusu Domain Stock Exchange.

Fusu.com Founder Tobias Ratschiller informed Fractional Domaining Blog that KPY.com sold for $9,000 on Saturday. The sale price is significantly more than the $5,000 the name was originally listed for during Fusu's public Beta cycle and the $5,800 it had risen to in trading. Fourteen investors had bought 45% of the domain. Nine of the 14 had owned less than 150 shares. They share in the proceeds of the sale. (For more details, visit Fusu at http://www.fusu.com/blog/fusu/first-domain-sold-fusu.)

This blogger's thoughts on the deal?... While the dollar amounts each fractional domain investor received are not huge, the percentage returns in such a short period of time are impressive! This sale demonstrates the Fusu Exchange model can work, and it will be interesting to see how it evolves as more domains and more investors get involved with larger amounts of money invested.

An Irish Blessing...

While some members of the domaining community may be familiar with me as a result of my domain development activities since 1996 or, more recently, via the Fractional Domaining Blog, many of you may not be as familiar with my RyKy Records music label which features the music of my friend, songwriter/composer Joseph F.M. Pokorny.

Joe has written and composed over 860 songs and nearly 20 musicals and cantatas. He has written powerful songs like the tribute,
For The Heroes; the peace/love song, When; the thought-provoking, Save The Earth; and too many others to list here. He has put my lyrics for We Thought She'd Live Forever to music and included the song at a climactic point in his Wind Dance Musical, and he has even created The Obstacle Course Musical, based upon my self-help/inspirational novel, The Obstacle Course!

I mention this because collaborating with Joe to help make his music available to the world has been one of the great joys of my life. I feel blessed to have his friendship and the privilege of working with him towards "Making A Difference With Music (tm)".

This experience of creative synergy is also one of the driving factors of my interest in Fractional Domaining. I want to collaborate with others for mutual benefit, and I believe Fractional Domaining is a way to do it!

I will provide a fuller introduction to myself and my interests soon... In the meantime, to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I invite you to enjoy the beautiful
An Irish Blessing and other songs from Joe at StPatricksDayFun.com. I have also compiled some fun St. Patrick's Day resources in a .pdf ebook you are welcome to download from http://www.LyricSongbooks.com/StPatricksDayFun.pdf. Take a listen and a look, and please pass along the links to your friends!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
